Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Scholarships
The Black Hawk College East Foundation offers two $500 CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) scholarships available for students enrolling in the Basic Nurse Assistant Training Program at the Black Hawk College Community Education Center in Kewanee.
The eight-week program trains students to work as certified nursing assistants (CNAs) to assist nurses in direct patient care. The program includes 80 hours in the classroom and 40 hours of clinical training.
Because the CNA program does not quality for traditional financial aid, the Black Hawk College East Foundation uses private support to make the program more affordable and accessible.
The scholarships available are the BHC East Foundation CNA Scholarship and the Barbara J. Curran Golby Memorial CNA Scholarship. Golby was a nurse in the Kewanee area for nearly 50 years and spent the last 10 years of her career teaching CNA students at the college’s East Campus.
Prospective students may download the application or pick up the scholarship application at either the Black Hawk College Community Education Center, 404 East Third Street, Kewanee, or at the Black Hawk College East Foundation Office in Building A, Room 103 at the college’s East Campus, 26230 Black Hawk Road, Galva (located five miles south of Kewanee).
